The tech sector is amongst the fastest growing industries in the U.S. economy, with 1.4 million new jobs expected by 2020. However, at the rate U.S. universities are producing qualified candidates for computer science roles, 70% of the 1.4 million jobs will remain unfilled by U.S. workers. In fact, less than 10% of PK-12 schools in the United States even offer computer science classes. Join us to learn how teaching computer science at the PK-12 level is a tremendous opportunity to kick-start a career in the education sector while providing opportunity to our country's next generation of leaders. Don?t miss this exciting discussion featuring Teach For America alumni Jeff Casimir (Executive Director at Turing School of Software & Design, Principal at Jumpstart Lab) and Dr. Sarah Miller (Assistant Dean for Inclusive Excellence at CU-Boulder), as well as Reilly Ellis (Program Coordinator at Black Girls Code), as they share the opportunities in computer science education and the national momentum around CS.
